About us:
The Andanu Nulla service provides a culturally safe and appropriate child health service for children from birth to 5 years, parents/carers, and their families. Service scope includes child health clinics for growth and development health assessments, hearing and vision assessments, health promotion and health education activities, immunisation clinic, hearing clinics, and Indigenous School Hearing program.
About the role:
- In partnership with families provide a culturally responsive child and family centred care for children and young people within the context of their family and community.
- Work within the scope of practice and under supervision where appropriate as part of the multi-disciplinary team across the Child Health Service to provide services in a culturally respectful and appropriate manner.
- Establish and maintain an effective communication network between health providers, social support agencies and local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Work under general supervision as part of the Andanu Nulla Child and the Child Health Service multidisciplinary team and relevant key stake holders to support the health and strengthen the capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families across the Rockhampton region.
- Work with the Nurse Unit Manager and the Child Health nurses to develop and facilitate pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to access and use the Child Health Service.
About you:
- Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
- Applicants who do not hold the mandatory qualification requirements, but believe they have the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the role as outlined, and will commit to completing the qualification(s) within an agreed timeframe if appointed, are encouraged to apply for this vacancy.
- Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.
- Demonstrate ability to engage with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, families and relevant services, to assist with referral pathways, advocate access to the child and family health services and promote child health and wellbeing.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $87,553 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $36.53 - $38.70 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
