Registered Nurse | Permanent and Temporary Full time positions | Thursday Island

Ready for a meaningful role that starts with a yarn? Abby Conry, 0427 645 437 would love to hear your story and answer any questions you may have about the role.

Tell me more... Thursday Island, known locally as TI or Waibene, is a small yet culturally rich island in the Torres Strait, located about 39 kilometres north of Cape York Peninsula. It serves as the administrative and commercial hub of the Torres Strait and is home to a diverse community with strong Indigenous heritage, particularly among Torres Strait Islander and Kaurareg peoples. Despite its compact size of 3.5 square kilometres, the island boasts scenic landscapes, historic sites such as Milman Hill, and a vibrant multicultural history shaped by pearling, fishing and maritime traditions.

The Registered Nurse delivers high‑quality, cost‑effective, patient‑centred care in collaboration with the broader health care team and in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's competency standards, providing best‑practice assessment and treatment to support each patient's health, functional ability and overall quality of life. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse also contributes through education, planning and evaluating care, offering clinical supervision, and demonstrating nursing leadership where required.
