The Cassowary Hub Maternity Services are seeking a Clinical Midwife to join them. In this role you will be promoting cooperation, teamwork and understanding to ensure effective health outcomes. You will be accountable for maintaining productive multi-disciplinary working relationships with different multi-disciplinary teams.

About us:

Innisfail is the southern section of Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS), 88km south of Cairns and approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes by road. The Cassowary Hub boundaries for maternity services extend from Kennedy in the South of Deeral in the North. Innisfail Hospital is the largest hospital within Cassowary Hub which encompasses both Babinda Multipurpose Health Service and Tully Hospital. The maternity unit for birthing and inpatient care is currently partially co-located with Ward 2 at Innisfail Hospital. The aim of the Cassowary Hub Maternity Service is to empower women to birth locally with the provision of safe and appropriate gold standard of midwifery care services for women in the rural geographical location of Cassowary Hub, North Queensland.

About your role:

  • Maintain sound knowledge of relevant legislation, guideline and standards specifically relating to midwifery practice and ensure safe, appropriate application of same.
  • Effectively manage self-development and work with the Midwifery Unit Manager/ Midwifery Educator to meet unit midwifery staff development needs.
  • Undertake quality improvement and evidence-based practice activities to ensure the provision of quality, cost-effective patient care.
