About the opportunity:
Townsville Hospital and Health Service is committed to growing the First Nations health workforce and values the role and contribution of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and Health Practitioner. These roles support the provision of culturally safe and responsive clinical and primary health care interventions to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
Health Worker Trainees are supported with full time employment, tailored education plans to suit individual learning needs, suitable rostering to support engagement with program education and wrap around, culturally safe support to continue through the program's various academic milestones.
This is a fixed term temporary full-time opportunity, for 18 months.

Competitive salary and benefits:
We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.
- Salary range: $65,082 to $68,884 p.a. (HWF1)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
- Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
Requirements:
- Mandatory qualifications (enrolment in Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care) and proof of registration (if applicable)
- This is an identified position - it is a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
- Probation period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted including Blue Card Checks.
