The role:  

This role is required to oversee and manage delivery of large scale, predominately application based and complex IM/ICT project, ensuring successful completion within agreed performance criteria which will enable enhanced health service delivery.

You will promote and ensure that appropriate project management techniques, methodologies and tools as well as benefits realisation and risk issue management are used to ensure the quality outcomes for projects are delivered.

The Queensland Government is investing in improved hospital services through real-time data and targeted technology upgrades under the Health Plan Commitment. A key priority action is Better Hospital Flows (GEC124), which focuses on modernising digital systems to improve hospital workflows, patient flow and visibility of bed availability across the state. Delivery of GEC124 is being progressed through two related initiatives:

  • Project 3a, which focuses on enhancements to the Statewide Management Information System (SWMIS) to improve the timeliness, quality and consistency of core operational data; and
  • Project 3b, which focuses on the assessment, planning and implementation of a statewide Patient Flow Insights capability that translates operational data into actionable insights.

Government Election Commitment (GEC) 124 – Better Hospital Flows – Project 3b comprises two phases: Phase 1 - Assessment and Phase 2 - Implementation.
This role relates to Project 3b: Assessment and Implementation and hereafter refers to it as the “project”.

About the role:

  • Manage capability and resource development by leading and mentoring multi-disciplinary project team(s).
  • Manage the delivery of predominately application based projects ranging in size and complexity from small to large and highly complex.
  • Oversee and manage the monitoring and reporting of project related trends and performance against project plans and schedules.
  • Manage project resources, expenses and capital costs against the project forecasts.
  • Lead the development and oversight of business cases for major strategic multi-million-dollar ICT initiatives.
  • Prepare documentation for strategic projects influencing initiatives across the state.

To be successful in this role you will show experience in building relationships to help support effective business for change as well as with key stakeholders to influence decision making within the project.

You will show extensive experience and application of, appropriate project management methodologies as well as promoting and giving advice around the use of appropriate project management, techniques and methodologies.
