Join the Paediatric Medical Unit in a unique joint academic and clinical role as a Paediatric Registrar, where you will combine hands‑on clinical practice with teaching and mentoring responsibilities. About your role as the JCU Paediatric Academic Registrar:
- Appointment as an Academic Registrar supports the development of skills in research, teaching, project work, professional development, and critical thinking, under supervision over a 6 or 12-month period.
- Providing feedback on students' performances such as through formal assessment of medical students through clinical examinations and marking of written work.
- Participate in regular departmental meetings and participation in other academic activities as discussed with the nominated supervisor, some of which may be outside of regular working hours or on the weekends.
About your role as a Clinical Registrar in Paediatrics:
- Contribute to quality patient care by participation in case planning which includes appropriate pre-admission planning, in-hospital care and discharge planning.
- Maintain good communications with all areas and disciplines within the health service and with local medical practitioners to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the hospital.
- Supervise the day-to-day activities of junior medical staff to ensure that appropriate standards of care are maintained and that junior medical staff are trained to adequately fulfil their duties.
