About the role
The Senior Occupational Therapist will provide advanced clinical assessment, treatment, and case management services to a complex caseload within a geographically defined community population. This role supports older people following hospital discharge through a time-limited, restorative, low-intensity therapy program aimed at improving function and independence.
You will exercise a high level of autonomy and clinical decision-making, adapt practice using contemporary evidence, and provide leadership within the occupational therapy service. The role includes supervision and mentoring of junior occupational therapists, students, and allied health assistants, and active participation in service planning, quality improvement, and workforce development. Collaboration with medical, nursing, allied health, carers, and external stakeholders is central to achieving positive client outcomes.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Deliver high level occupational therapy clinical services across a variety of caseloads in a Community Transition Care setting in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
- Exercise independent judgement and problem-solving skills, in matters beyond routine practice with infrequent clinical practice supervision.
- Apply professional judgement to a complex caseload, adapting routine clinical practice using valid and reliable evidence.
- Provide case management service delivery to clients within the Community Transition Care Program.
