About Acute Cognitive Unit and Acute Geriatric Unit
The Acute Cognitive Unit (ACU) / Acute Geriatric Unit (AGU) is a newly refurbished inpatient unit located at Robina Hospital due to open mid 2026. The unit comprises of an eight (8) bed ACU and ten (10) bed AGU.
The ACU is an acute psychogeriatric unit offering a specialised, secure hospital ward environment. It is specifically designed to support the care of patients living with dementia who exhibit severe Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD).
The AGU is a specialised unit designed to care for older adults with complex, rapidly changing medical needs. These units focus on comprehensive, multidisciplinary assessment and treatment of acute illnesses, functional decline, cognitive changes, and complications related to frailty or chronic disease.
About your new role
As a valued member of the ACU/AGU team, you will deliver comprehensive, person-centred, and evidence-based care within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.
This includes:
- Demonstrate clinical knowledge in the care of general medical and geriatric patients
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and provision of evidence-based care to optimise patient outcomes
- Maintain the safety of recipients of healthcare services by identifying risk and undertaking safe work activities
- Promote team work and a positive and inclusive team culture
Qualifications
- Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
- A Board (NMBA) approved qualification in medication administration. Completion of 519HLTEN A, B or C or 007HLTEN will be highly regarded
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
- Permanent Full time and Permanent Part Time (multiple positions, hours negotiable)
- Base salary ranging from $73 371 - $77 869 per annum or $37.00 - $39.27 per hour
