The Director, Ethical Standards Unit, Department of Health is responsible for managing and leading a team of staff who receive, assess and report suspected corrupt conduct under the Crime and Corruption Act 2001 to the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) and public interest disclosures (PID) under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2010 to the Queensland Ombudsman. These statutory functions are delegated by the Director-General.

Your Key responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist support and advice to delegates, decision makers, senior executives and other stakeholders on the effective management and administration of corrupt conduct complaints and public interest disclosures.
  • Manage data collection and analysis to support the identification, management and monitoring of corrupt conduct and public interest disclosures within the department.
  • Liaise and maintain relationships with external agencies such as the Queensland Ambulance Service, Hospital and Health Services, the Crime and Corruption Commission, Queensland Ombudsman, Office of the Health Ombudsman, Queensland Police Service and the Public Service Commission and represent the department at relevant meetings and forums.

Role fit

The essential requirements for this role are:

  • Demonstrated ability and knowledge to provide leadership and management in coordination of ethical standards functions including the receipt, assessment and reporting of corrupt conduct and public interest disclosures; facilitate and manage complex investigations and reviews of Department of Health employee's (including QAS employee's), Health Service Employee's and executive staff members; and negotiate outcomes with senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills; ability to liaise with all levels of management, employees and stakeholders including members of the public when dealing with confidential, complex and sensitive matters.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures relevant to the position and the demonstrated ability to apply to the operations of the department.
