About the role
This is a rotational Speech Pathology position delivering high-quality clinical services to both inpatients and outpatients at The Prince Charles Hospital. Rotations include Internal Medicine, Acute Stroke Unit, Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Day Therapy Unit (RDTU), and Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM).
Reporting to the Director of Speech Pathology, and working under the supervision of the relevant Speech Pathology Team Leader, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, and management of adults with acquired communication and/or swallowing disorders. Clinical practice is delivered in accordance with professional, ethical, and organisational standards, with care tailored to meet patients' physical, cognitive, psychological, and social needs.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Deliver contemporary Speech Pathology clinical services in both acute and sub-acute hospital settings to patients with acquired communication and/or swallowing disorders in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
- Undertake assessment and management of adults, in varied caseloads, considering their physical, social, psychological and cognitive needs using a variety of formal and informal materials, procedures and techniques.
- Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through self-directed learning, active participation within the Speech Pathology and multidisciplinary teams and by engaging in professional development activities, including supervision, professional development planning and performance appraisal.
