Senior Advisor, Claims and Redress

Take the next step in your career with this exciting opportunity within Corporate Services Division. Provide state-wide complex technical claims and redress advocacy and advisory services to Queensland Health, including Hospital and Health Services, the Department of Health, and Queensland Ambulance Services. This will include claims management responsibilities in certain circumstances, including historic child sexual abuse civil litigation matters and redress applications made under the Institutionalised Child Sexual Abuse National Redress Scheme.

What you'll do  

  • Draft, review and provide high-quality professional claims and/or redress advice to support our clients in line with relevant processes and timeframes;
  • Critically peer review advice and work. Provide well-considered, solutions-focused feedback which ensures accurate and professional advice is provided to clients;
  • Lead and participate in small to large, including complex, allocated projects/initiatives to ensure they are completed to a high quality, and on-time using an appropriate project management methodology;
  • In line with the Queensland Health templates and standards, research and prepare complex reports, submissions, and executive correspondence relating to claims and/or redress
  • Conduct appropriate research (i.e. investigate, anlayse, interpret, evaluate) to ensure advice and support provided is accurate, in line with industry best practice and acknowledges the unique challenges faced by Queensland Health;
  • Regularly monitor, analyse, interpret and report on insurance market trends and risks to support a better understanding of the impact and influence the industry has over clients' actions, interactions, coverage and decisions;

About you  

We are searching for someone who:  

  • Is passionate about claims management and has a solid understanding of claims processes, ideally within a commercial insurance or self‑insurance environment
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, sensitively, and professionally with a range of stakeholders
  • Has strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in documentation, assessments, and decision‑making
  • Is able to assess coverage, liability, and factual information and apply policy frameworks appropriately
  • Can prioritise competing demands and manage multiple matters effectively in a time‑sensitive environment
  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team while also being comfortable working independently
