About the role

The Emergency Medicine Registrar/Principal House Officer will work closely within a multi-disciplinary team that comprises of medical, nursing and allied health staff, to provide a seamless continuum of care for the patients attending either the Adult or Children's Emergency Department. Positions are available in both Children's and Adult Emergency Departments on a rotational basis.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Perform the clinical duties expected of any other Advanced ACEM/RACP trainee with regard to individual patient management. A Senior Registrar/Registrar is under the supervision of the Emergency medicine consultant allocated on the shift.
  • Acute Area: Providing early senior review as well as supervising more junior staff and performing or supervising procedural sedations. Supervision of clinical area as well as management of own patient load.
  • Resus area: Taking a more senior role in the management of critically unwell patients, including teaching medical and nursing staff critical care skills. Leading resus teams and responding to MET calls.
  • Fast Track: Responsibility for the management of patient flow within this area, supervising more junior staff and performing any procedures necessary.
  • Short Stay Treatment Area: Responsibility for taking handover at from night registrars, review and discharge ward round and subsequent referrals.
