An exciting opportunity exists to join Internal Audit and Risk as a Risk Manager. The role supports the implementation and evaluation of the Enterprise Risk Management framework, risk reporting, and the development of risk capability across Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service. The Risk Manager ensures effective risk management processes are embedded to support strategic objectives and assists the Director, Internal Audit and Risk with strategic, operational and clinical risk oversight.

About us:

The Internal Audit and Risk Team provide independent assurance and advisory services to the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service Board Audit and Risk Committee. The team supports the Health Service to achieve its objectives by systematically evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, governance and internal control processes. Reporting functionally to the Health Service Board (via the Audit and Risk Committee) and administratively to the Chief Executive, the unit promotes accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement across CHHHS.

About your role:

  • Foster and promote a positive risk culture through leading strategic and organisational risk management activities.
  • High level communication and consultation to provide high-level advice and support to the CHHHS Executive and Directors.
  • Proactively identify, assess, prioritise and support the effective management of risks, issues and opportunities affecting the achievement of risk management objectives.
  • Through a coordinated approach to the organisational risk management process and the evaluation and regular review of the CHHHS risk.
