Role details
The Allied Health Services (Rural) at the Sarina Hospital is seeking applications for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join their team on a permanent part time basis.

Your opportunity
- To deliver high level comprehensive occupational therapy clinical skills and leadership to provide effective and efficient treatment to a caseload spanning the continuum of care and the life spectrum. This position is based at Sarina Hospital and provides inpatient and outpatient care.
- To actively participate in an Allied Health team that contributes to patient safety and positive outcomes by adhering to professional standards and working towards achievement of health service strategic priorities.
- To support continued health service improvement by undertaking quality improvement activities and evidence-based practice as a member of a multidisciplinary team, to optimise functional outcomes, and to achieve maximum benefits from health care services for patients/consumers, their families, carers and other key stakeholders or customers of Queensland Health.
- This position based at Sarina Hospital and is clinically responsible and accountable to the Medical Superintendent, and operationally accountable to the Director of Nursing. Professional support is provided by the occupational therapy department in Mackay through telehealth and face to face meetings, education sessions and shadowing.
About the Team
Sarina Hospital is located within the township of Sarina, approximately 30 minutes-drive south of Mackay, making it the closest located rural facility to Mackay Base Hospital. The Sarina Hospital services the wider community that extends east to coastal hamlets, south to St Lawrence and west into the hinterland.
Sarina Hospital provides admitted and non-admitted services, with inpatients, 24-hour Emergency Department, Outpatients Clinics and Community Services. The facility is newly built and fully utilises electronic medical records. Inpatient care is a mixture of acute patients and non-acute patients, and the emergency department has varied presentations totalling approximately 9000 presentations in the last year.
Allied Health Services located at Sarina Hospital include Physiotherapy Services and with this new position Occupational Therapy. These local services work closely with other Allied Health Services including Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Social Work and Pharmacy which are provided as an outreach model from Mackay Base Hospital.
