Join a specialist team at the Queensland Mycobacterium Reference Laboratory (QMRL), where your support will help deliver critical microbiology services that impact public health across the state. In this role, you’ll provide essential assistance to scientific and technical staff within the Microbiology Division, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of a highly specialised reference laboratory. Your work will support the processing and handling of samples that are vital to the detection and monitoring of mycobacterial diseases.

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

• Demonstrated ability to provide assistance to scientific and technical staff within the laboratory.
• Demonstrated ability to work conscientiously and accurately with minimal local supervision.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
• Demonstrated ability to follow written instructions, including laboratory manuals and basic maintenance procedures on laboratory equipment.
• A commitment to the maintenance of high professional standards and a demonstrated commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
• Knowledge of, or ability to acquire knowledge of, procedure, policies and regulations which impact on the position, in particular the Queensland Health Code of Conduct, and a knowledge of contemporary human resource management issues such as workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination.
