About us:

This isn't just a hospital, but a whole connected health network. Think Emerald, Blackwater, Springsure, and Woorabinda hospitals, plus primary health and outpatient services stretching across the Gemfields, Tieri, and Capella. It's healthcare with reach, variety, and real community impact.

At the centre of it all is Emerald Hospital's Emergency Department, keeping things moving with around 16,000 patient presentations every year. It's busy enough to keep your skills sharp, but still small enough that you're more than just a number. Be part of a team that knows your name and values what you bring.

About the role:

This is not your average NP gig. In Emerald, you'll step into a role where your advanced Emergency Nursing skills get to flex at full power.

You'll be right at the front line delivering high-level care in the Emergency Department, while also taking your skills on the road to Multipurpose Health Services and Primary Health clinics across the Central Highlands. At your core, you'll be doing what great NPs do best — assessing, diagnosing, treating, and following patients through their care journey. You'll order and interpret diagnostics, prescribe treatments (both pharmacological and not), and refer on when needed. In short: you've got the authority, and you get to use it.

You'll mentor staff, share knowledge, and help design smarter systems and processes that improve outcomes across the board. Your influence goes way beyond the bedside. Work alongside a multidisciplinary team that actually values collaboration. Expect strong partnerships with nursing and medical teams across Emerald Hospital and surrounding facilities, all focused on delivering high-quality, evidence-based care and lifting each other up along the way.

About you:

First things first (the must-haves):

  • Registered Nurse with AHPRA (current practising certificate). Tick!
  • Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) plus AHPRA endorsement as an NP. Tick!
  • Eligible (and ready) to be credentialed within CQHHS. Tick!

Bonus points (but we'll back you to get there if needed):

  • Extra postgrad quals or Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) creds

What you bring to the table:

  • Confidence to work autonomously and thrive in a team.
  • Sharp clinical brain. You assess, diagnose, plan, treat, and evaluate like a pro.
  • Next-level communication skills; from calming patients to navigating tricky team dynamics.
  • A natural collaborator who can negotiate, consult, and build strong working relationships.
  • Solid, up-to-date emergency and primary care expertise backed by real-world experience.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $187,710 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $79.47 - $82.97 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading

Additional Benefits

  • Ongoing Professional Development and Education Opportunities
  • Flexible Work-Life Balance and Variety
  • Generous Salary Sacrificing Options
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Discounted Private Health Insurance
  • Fitness Passport
