What your day could look like
As a Clinical Nurse – Child Health, you'll be a trusted clinical leader for families across the Darling Downs, helping children get the best possible start in life. From early identification of health needs to empowering parents with knowledge and confidence, your work will have a lasting impact across the community.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
- Delivering advanced child and family health assessments that guide timely, effective care and early intervention
- Building strong, therapeutic relationships with families and collaborating with multidisciplinary partners to support wellbeing
- Leading health promotion and education activities that respond to local community needs
- Using clinical judgement and initiative to coordinate care, improve quality, and model best practice child health nursing
Let's talk about you!
You're a confident, compassionate clinician who values autonomy and purpose in your work. You take pride in supporting children and families through critical early years, knowing your care can shape lifelong outcomes. With integrity and courage, you make sound clinical decisions, bring others together, and look for better ways to improve community health. You're not just delivering care, you're strengthening trust, capability, and wellbeing where it matters most.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
- Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Postgraduate qualification in Child Health Nursing
- Immunisation Program Nurse qualification and advanced child health assessment skills
- A collaborative, values‑led approach grounded in compassion, dignity, innovation, and accountability
You'll stand out from the crowd if you bring experience in rural or community settings and/or additional postgraduate study relevant to child and family health.
In this role, your leadership and care will directly improve outcomes for children and families while living the values we stand for at Darling Downs Health.
