What your day could look like
As an Assistant in Nursing, you'll play a vital role in supporting safe, high‑quality care for people across our rural health service. Working alongside Registered and Enrolled Nurses, you'll help create a calm, respectful environment where patients feel supported, listened to and cared for every day.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
- Supporting patients with personal care, mobility, nutrition and daily activities so they can remain comfortable, safe and engaged
- Strengthening continuity of care by observing changes, communicating clearly, and helping the team respond early
- Helping maintain a safe, well‑organised care environment that supports quality outcomes
- Being a positive team member who contributes to trust, connection and a culture of care
Let's Talk About You
You bring warmth, reliability and pride to your work. You understand that the small moments matter just as much as clinical skills, and you take satisfaction in helping people feel respected and supported. Guided by compassion, integrity and courage, you work well within a team, follow direction confidently, and know how to step forward when it counts. You'll feel proud knowing your work directly improves daily life for people in your community.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
- A recognised Certificate III qualification in aged care, health services assistance or equivalent, or current study in an approved nursing program
- The ability to provide safe, person‑centred care under supervision
- Strong communication skills and a respectful, team‑first mindset
You'll stand out if you have experience in aged care or rural health settings and enjoy learning and growing in your practice.
Above all, you'll live our values—compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation and courage—and help deliver care that truly makes a difference.
Together, your work will strengthen community wellbeing and uphold the heart of Darling Downs Health.
