What your day could look like

As an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison Officer, you'll help strengthen the connection between patients, families and our care teams. From supporting cultural understanding to guiding people through their health journey, you'll be part of a team committed to compassion and positive outcomes across our region.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Advocating for patients and families, ensuring their cultural needs and voices are heard.
  • Helping people navigate their care by building trust, clarity and connection with clinical teams.
  • Supporting safe and smooth care pathways through collaboration, planning and onward referrals.
  • Sharing cultural knowledge that strengthens relationships, confidence and respect across our service.

Let's talk about you!

You're someone who leads with care, confidence and cultural strength. You stay grounded in challenging moments, communicate with dignity, and build relationships that uplift others. You take pride in helping people feel seen, respected and supported during times that truly matter. You're here not just to do a job, but to create meaningful change in a community that values your contribution.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • A recognised Certificate IV or Diploma (or higher) in a relevant health or community field.
  • Lived experience as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to support patients in complex situations.
  • A current driver licence and willingness to work shifts, on‑call, and travel as needed.

You'll stand out if you bring community connections, experience in regional settings, or additional training in health or social support.

Above all, you'll embody the values we live by: compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation and courage—shaping better experiences and outcomes for every person who walks through our doors.
