As a Pathology Assistant within the Anatomical Pathology (AP) laboratory at Townsville University Hospital, you’ll play a vital role in supporting a comprehensive histology, cytology, and mortuary service that underpins critical patient care and diagnostic outcomes.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

• Demonstrated experience or ability to acquire skills to perform basic laboratory duties associated with Anatomical Pathology including handling biological specimens and preparation of basic chemical solutions.
• Demonstrated experience or ability to acquire skills in the interpretation of request forms together with ability to perform rapid and accurate data entry.
• Demonstrate high level interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work productively in a team environment, and to respond to enquiries and instruction by clients
• Proven ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures and work conscientiously and accurately with minimal supervision after appropriate training
• Demonstrate exceptional time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks in order to meet service delivery deadlines.
• Effectively contribute to a safe & positive work environment and team culture.
