Our Central Queensland Public Health Unit brings together a multidisciplinary team - including physicians, nurses, environmental health experts, epidemiologists, data specialists and business support, all working to protect community health.
Our focus is on populations, not just individuals, aiming to reduce illness and deaths from communicable diseases, vaccine-preventable conditions, and environmental health risks.
In short, we safeguard communities by preventing disease, reducing health risks, and promoting healthier populations.
About the role:
Join a vibrant team of Environmental Health Officers and be part of a multidisciplinary crew tackling public health challenges head-on! You'll deliver routine environmental health services, assist in outbreak and incident responses, and gain hands-on experience under expert guidance.
You'll help prepare reports and presentations, communicate confidently with diverse stakeholders, and use the latest tools and techniques to make an impact. Fieldwork includes regular visits, inspections, and surveys in Indigenous communities, supporting local Environmental Health Officers and strengthening community health.

About you:
- Although there a no mandatory requirements for this role, applicants working toward a tertiary qualification in the field of public or environmental health (accredited by Environmental Health Australia), and experience in environmental health would be highly desired.
- Ability to work independently to plan, prepare and deliver programs in line with Public Health priorities to set timeframes and goals.
- Function as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team demonstrating ability to function effectively with a minimum of supervision.
- Knowledge of the environmental risk factors associated with disease risks, as well as high-level strategies to address them.
What we offer:
Total monthly remuneration value of up to $8,382 p.m. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $39.98 - $44.46 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
