The role: 

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Senior Project Officer is a hands-on role suited to a motivated all-rounder with junior project management skills who enjoys working across all aspects of project delivery. Working closely with the Project Manager and project teams, the role supports the planning, coordination and successful delivery of Information Management and ICT initiatives.

The Senior Project Officer will provide guidance to project team members, oversees project procurement activities, supports project financial management (including budgets, expenditure and forecasting), and ensures milestones and deliverables are achieved. The role is also responsible for maintaining high-quality project documentation and registers, governance reporting and compliance, ensuring all activities align with Queensland Health project management methodologies.

This role operates in a fast-paced environment and requires strong organisational, time management and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities while mentoring, supporting and leading team members.

In addition to this, you will be responsible for:

  • Develop and maintain accurate, timely project documentation and registers in accordance with governance requirements.
  • Prepare high-quality meeting materials and confidently facilitate, present at and lead project meetings, workshops and forums to support effective decision-making.
  • Support and coordinate project finance and procurement activities, ensuring compliance with financial, procurement and governance requirements.
  • Promote and apply appropriate project management methodologies, tools, and techniques, including benefits realisation, and risk and issue management, to deliver quality project outcomes.
  • Manage, monitor and report on project performance, budgets, schedules, resources and capital costs against approved forecasts.
  • Initiate, influence and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, facilitating effective communication, supporting change adoption, and managing expectations.
  • Define, document and successfully deliver medium-scale projects in line with Queensland Health project management methodologies.
  • Manage and mentor project officers in project management methodologies, documentation, tools, and techniques.
