About the Role

Health Infrastructure Queensland is seeking to appoint two Executive Directors to lead major infrastructure delivery portfolios across South East Queensland.

These appointments will be made through a single recruitment process, with candidates considered for one of two geographically aligned portfolios:

Executive Director – SEQ Delivery (North):
Responsible for projects across Metro North, Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay and Darling Downs, with a strong focus on hospital expansion, upgrades and geographically dispersed delivery.

Executive Director – SEQ Delivery (South):
Responsible for Metro South, Gold Coast and West Moreton, including the delivery of large-scale, high-value and time-critical projects such as the new Coomera Hospital, one of the largest hospital developments undertaken in Australia.

Each Executive Director will lead the delivery of complex, multi-billion-dollar capital programs within a high-profile and high-accountability environment. These roles are critical to ensuring major health infrastructure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in alignment with broader service and system priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, HIQ, each Executive Director will:

  • Lead geographically focused, multidisciplinary teams embedded within hospital campuses
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of capital projects, including scope, schedule, budget and resource management
  • Drive delivery outcomes across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring performance against time, cost and quality objectives
  • Integrate commercial, operational, commissioning and digital requirements into project delivery
  • Navigate complex stakeholder environments, balancing clinical, operational and commercial priorities
  • Lead governance, risk management and assurance processes across high-value programs

The portfolios include both:

  • major hospital expansion and upgrade programs addressing ageing infrastructure and population growth, and
  • complex, high-risk infrastructure delivery requiring advanced systems thinking, particularly in areas such as electrification and digital network resilience.

These roles sit at the centre of a high-profile delivery environment, with significant expectations around pace, performance and accountability.

About You

You are a proven executive leader with demonstrated capability delivering large-scale hospital works programs or comparable public infrastructure projects within the built environment.

You will bring:

  • Extensive experience leading large-scale capital works, hospital infrastructure, or public built environment programs, ideally within multi-billion-dollar portfolios
  • A strong track record across public infrastructure delivery, with experience in sectors such as hospitals, health facilities, schools, civic assets or broader public works highly regarded
  • Strong capability in commercial delivery, contractor management and project governance frameworks within complex construction and infrastructure environments
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams within complex service delivery environments
  • The ability to engage and influence across a broad stakeholder group, including clinical leaders, government stakeholders and commercial partners
  • Experience managing risk, assurance and performance across multiple concurrent projects

You will demonstrate:

  • Strong strategic and systems thinking capability
  • The ability to navigate competing priorities and deliver outcomes in high-pressure environments
  • A leadership style that drives accountability, collaboration and high performance

Experience in health infrastructure will be highly regarded but is not essential. What will be critical is your ability to operate effectively at the intersection of public infrastructure delivery, built environment complexity, governance and stakeholder management.

Why Join HIQ

This is a rare opportunity to:

  • Lead delivery within an $18.5 billion infrastructure program of national significance
  • Deliver projects that directly impact patient care, service access and community outcomes
  • Contribute to shaping a new, sustainable infrastructure delivery model for Queensland
  • Play a key leadership role in delivering infrastructure aligned to future system demand, including the lead-up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games
