About us:

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service provide an extensive range of health services at more thatn 30 regional, rural and remote facilities across a geographical area of 142,900 square kilometres. The Health Service is 95 percent self-sufficient with only a small number of high- level acute services being provided in Townsville and Brisbane. 

Located just 80km west of Cairns and its international airport, Atherton provides all the essential amenities and services for a comfortable family lifestyle.

Atherton Hospital provides medical, surgical, and maternity services to the town's approximately 8,000 residents. It also offers a wide range of specialist outpatient services and extends its support to rural communities through outreach programs. The hospital is located in the picturesque Atherton Tablelands, 1.5 hours drive from Cairns. The hospital was redeveloped in 2023 and provides outreach services to Malanda, Millaa Millaa, Mount Garnet, Ravenshoe, Croydon, Forsayth and Georgetown.

Atherton is also a hub for nearby attractions such as waterfall walks, gourmet food and wine, and unique wildlife, as well as hiking, mountain biking, and a variety of water sports.

About your role:

  • Comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care to a caseload of women.
  • Birthing care in birth suite and birth centre as dependant on maternal request, clinical situation and eligibility criteria.
  • Co-ordinating individualised care including scheduling of all appointments and follow up care.
