About us:
The Pharmacy Department at the Rockhampton Hospital manages all medications across the hospital, including the preparation and supply of all inpatient medication on the wards, and prescription and dispensary services for patients visiting the hospital.
About the role:
- Provide a defined range of clinical support tasks relating to components of the medicines management cycle, in line with professional and legislative standards, with appropriate training, supervision and competency assessments, under the delegation and guidance of a pharmacist.
- Conduct inventory management including ordering, receiving, storage, distribution and stocktake of medicines under the delegation and guidance of a registered pharmacist
- Manufacture and prepare (compound) sterile and non-sterile complex products in accordance with Therapeutic Goods Administration TGA ‘Good Manufacturing Practice' and current Australian pharmacy professional standards and guidelines as required.
- Assist with Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) claim preparation and processing in specialised areas including the Efficient Funding of Chemotherapy (EFC)
- Provide Pharmacy Department front counter services including but not limited to: prescription triage and tracking, financial and cashier services, entitlement card processing, courier service coordination under the delegation and guidance of a pharmacist.
- Provide support, mentoring and supervision to less experienced pharmacy assistants/technicians.
- Senior pharmacy assistants are expected to rotate periodically through other senior pharmacy assistant roles and perform duties of the CA3 Pharmacy Assistant when required by the service.
About you:
- Certificate IV in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support (HLT47115) or an international equivalent is mandatory. A certified copy of this qualification must be provided upon application.
- A qualification, or statement of attainment, recognising the person has the skills and knowledge required to carry out pharmaceutical imprest duties for a specific health service as described in Schedule 9 of the Medicines and Poisons (Medicines) Regulation 2021.
- Appointees must be aged 16 years or more in accordance with the definition of a hospital pharmaceutical assistant and a dispensary pharmacy assistant as described in Schedule 9 of the Medicines and Poisons (Medicines) Regulation 2021.
- Demonstrated ability to apply advanced knowledge in allied health, including knowledge of the health care system, general medical conditions and basic anatomy under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Ability to demonstrate advanced knowledge of generic, trade and chemical names of medicines, as well as advanced knowledge of relevant medicines related terminology.
- Proven ability to prepare the PBS claim including collating and recording scripts ensuring all are fully completed, including knowledge of paperless claims and resubmitted scripts.

Total remuneration value of up to $92,813 p.a. comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $38.36 - $41.02 p.h.
