The position will provide expert technical leadership, advice and high-quality service and support to ensure the effective delivery, maintenance and enhancement of large scale, enterprise-level application software solutions for Queensland Health’s integrated BreastScreen Queensland (BSQ) systems and contribute to Queensland Health’s strategic objectives. The Principal Technical Specialist in Queensland Imaging Informatics Support Unit (QIISU), Digital Health Branch (DHB), eHealth Queensland (eHQ) reports to the Manager, BSQ System Support Team, QIISU.

What you'll do
- Lead and provide software development and related technical specialist support services ensuring compliance with the organisations' ICT policies, standards, guidelines and procedures in particular configuration, change and release management practices.
- Design and develop high quality enterprise software application products, components and services including Oracle Application Express (APEX) web application development that fulfil approved software specifications and business requirements.
- Ensure appropriate documentation is produced to support and track the project/service effort, including analysis and design specifications, project/product estimates and work packages, schedules and status reports.
- Analyse, identify, and formulate product and service improvements in particular enterprise application services that create and extend business benefits, optimise cost and performance of application services and mitigate technical and business risks.
- Maintain a contemporary, high level of knowledge of large-scale software development and related ICT industry streams in order to lead, and influence continuous improvement of unit work practices, processes, application solutions and support services.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- Demonstrated expert level industry success (minimum of 2 years over last 4 years) in large scale application software development and maintenance using Oracle APEX web application development tools and software development products including but not limited to:
- HTML5
- JavaScript
- CSS
- API integration
- APEX REST and Web Services
- APEX application packaging and deployment
- APEX PDF Printing (desirable)
- Multi-schema relational database design
- Oracle Forms and Reports
- PL/SQL
- Shell Scripting
- LDAP Authentication (desirable)
- Experience with designing and developing applications for deployment on various client devices including desktop, tablets and mobile devices.
- Extensive knowledge of and broad ranging experience in large scale software development in the context of agile software development lifecycles of enterprise-level applications.
- Experience in developing application framework to support system integration, access security, user access permissions to data and exception handling and event logging.
- Knowledge and/or experience in the creation and update of a variety of solution architectural design and technical application documents.
