About us:
The Specialist Outpatient Unit provides coordinated, patient‑focused care for individuals requiring non‑admitted specialist medical services. The unit supports outpatient clinics across a range of medical and surgical specialties, delivering assessment, treatment, follow‑up care, and ongoing management for patients referred by general practitioners, inpatient teams, or other health services.

About your role:
- Provide courteous, prompt and professional service to clients and CHHHS stakeholders.
- Manage the referral and appointment booking services for the Cardiology Outreach team by processing referrals, sourcing and retrieving patient information, and scheduling appointments in a timely and efficient manner in line with SOSIS and the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service's Administrative Procedure Manual.
- Maintain the Hospital Based Corporate Information System (HBCIS) patient information system, ieMR and ESM (electronic digital records), MediRecords for bulk billing Medicare, CHAI reporting, Queensland Cardiac Outcomes Registry, Microsoft office suite of programs including Outlook email and the usage of internet as per policy and Code of Conduct.
- Provide general administrative support including maintaining stationery and equipment, handling of incoming and outgoing mail, booking and management of rooms as required through RMS (Resource Management System) for videoconferencing, telehealth, clinic rooms, groups and meetings.
