About us:

The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers a large geographic area with a diverse and growing population. The Health Service provides a wide range of primary care, acute and specialist services. HITH provides care in a patient's permanent or temporary residence for conditions that require ongoing clinical governance, monitoring, and/or treatment, as a substitution for in-hospital admitted care. Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking to take the next step in your career while enjoying an exceptional lifestyle? Join our dynamic Hospital in the Home (HITH) team in Cairns and help deliver high-quality acute care in a community-based setting. You will experience greater flexibility compared to traditional inpatient roles, where opportunities to develop leadership skills through supervision of junior staff (HP3 OT and CA4) will arise. If you're looking for a rewarding role that combines clinical challenge, professional growth, and an incredible lifestyle, we'd love to hear from you.

About you:

  • Deliver high level occupational therapy clinical services of a complex and varied nature to consumers of Hospital in The Home in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards, with minimal direct clinical supervision.
  • Provide leadership in the provision of evidence-based and patient-centred occupational therapy practice and education and initiate and participate in clinical research and service improvement projects in order to optimise health outcomes.
  • This position requires high level knowledge of complex conditions, patterns of pathology and use of validated evidence-based management principles, coupled with high level experience in a range of caseloads.
