About us:
Our population is 260,000 with First Nations people making up 14% of the region's population. Cairns Hospital provides a range of specialist outpatient, inpatient, and emergency services from its CBD site on the Cairns Esplanade. The hospital has 506 inpatient beds and 53 emergency department treatment spaces, 16 ICU beds, 22 special care nursery beds, 48 inpatient mental health beds and 25 maternity beds. We're committed to improving the health and wellbeing of people in Far North Queensland by providing high quality acute health care services. The Surgical and Orthopaedic Assessment Unit (SOAU) operates within the Directorate of Intensive Care, Women's and Perioperative (ICWP). The service provides Surgical, Gynaecology, and Orthopaedic patient care for communities across the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS) and the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service (TCHHS). Join our dynamic ICU Surgical and Orthopaedic team in Cairns and help deliver high-quality care within a tropical backdrop.
About you:
- Coordinate and contribute to the development of Trauma Services within Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS).
- Provide and develop in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to support delivery of quality care of the trauma patient from pre-hospital to rehabilitation.
- Participates in trauma resuscitation as the senior nursing leader, providing advanced clinical leadership during acute presentations and contributes to daily trauma clinical rounds and multidisciplinary reviews.
