About us:
Evolve Therapeutic Services is a multidisciplinary team within the Child and Youth Mental Health Service operating across the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service to provide mental health intervention to children and young people (under 18 years) involved with Queensland Child Safety Services. The Evolve Therapeutic Services program is part of a statewide, cross government initiative that aims to enhance mental health outcomes for children and adolescents involved with Child Safety and experiencing the most severe and complex mental health difficulties.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cairns and Hinterland Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Service. The Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Service covers a large geographical area that extends from Tully in the South, to Mossman in the North and westwards to Croydon. The majority of services are predominantly Cairns based however the expansive geography of the region allows for travel to areas which most people only dream of.
Cairns is nestled in a diverse ecological system, which makes it a great place to live. With rainforest and mountains meeting the Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reef. Cairns is picturesque and is blessed with warm weather all year round. Although classified as regional, Cairns still offers the trappings of a big city. The international airport is minutes away from the CBD which buzzes with a multicultural vibe. There is an abundance of restaurants to suit all types and the lifestyle is relaxed and affordable. It is a fantastic location to raise children with several exemplary schools and various sporting organisations.

About your role:
- Apply high level clinical knowledge in childhood trauma, attachment theory, child development, collaborative practice and systemic theory in the provision of a clinical mental health service to children, adolescents and their family/carers.
- Provide a comprehensive and flexible clinical mental health service to children, adolescents and their family/carers including assessment, intervention, treatment planning and evaluation.
- Work collaboratively with key government, non-government and private sector service providers to coordinate and direct a responsive interagency care plan to address the therapeutic and behaviour support needs of the child or young person.
