About us:
The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers a large geographic area with a diverse and growing population. The Health Service provides a wide range of primary care, acute and specialist services. Our population is 260,000 with First Nations people making up 14% of the region's population. Cairns Hospital provides a range of specialist outpatient, inpatient, and emergency services from its CBD site on the Cairns Esplanade. The hospital has 506 inpatient beds and 53 emergency department treatment spaces, 16 ICU beds, 22 special care nursery beds, 48 inpatient mental health beds and 25 maternity beds.
The directorate is divided into five distinct service areas led by a multidisciplinary management team, each focusing on particular patient groups and their specific health care needs. Services are delivered in the Trinity, Cassowary and Hinterland hubs, across the Cairns & Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS).
About your opportunity:
In this position you will…..
- The Nursing Director provides strategic advice and guidance to the Director IMECYS and the CHDONM to promote a high standard of professional practice and achieve patient focussed outcomes. In addition to this, the role provides professional guidance, mentorship, leadership and support to relevant nursing and midwifery professionals.
- Oversee, in conjunction with the Director IMECYS and EDONM, development of nursing budgets, allocation of nursing resources against service plans and management of nursing budgets in line with agreed service levels in accordance with Business Planning Framework.
- This role participates in on-call rosters and adheres to the role accountabilities to meet capacity and demands of the services.
