This service is doing seriously important work across Central Queensland; supporting over 250,000 people across Gladstone, Capricorn Coast, Rockhampton, Central Highlands and Banana. Big reach, real impact. Wherever people are on their mental health or recovery journey, this team is there to back them up.

Rockhampton is the hub of the action, home to the main inpatient facilities, while Gladstone brings its own support with a Step Up Step Down service. Translation: there's a whole network of care designed to meet people where they're at, not just where the system is.

About the role:

This role is your chance to turn your lived experience into real-world impact, being a recovery role model in action. You'll connect with consumers, carers, and staff, showing that managing mental health is possible and sharing what's helped along the way.

Think of yourself as part coach, part cheerleader, part guide, helping people set meaningful goals, make plans, and take those all-important small (but mighty) steps forward. You'll use practical tools, real conversations, and shared experiences to help others build a recovery path that works for them. Help run groups and education sessions that make mental health support feel accessible, relatable, and human. Plus, you'll team up with a whole crew of professionals, combining strengths to deliver support that really sticks.

Your voice matters here: help gather feedback, shape better services, and keep things improving. You'll help create a safe, supportive environment where everyone feels respected and looked after.

About you:

  • You get that recovery is about strengths, hope and meeting people where they're at. You naturally focus on what's possible, not just what's wrong.
  • You're a people person with solid communication skills and you know how to work your magic in a team.
  • You're comfortable navigating the Microsoft world (yes, Word, Outlook, all the usual suspects) and you can keep things organised without breaking a sweat.
  • Running groups or supporting education sessions? You're in. You can help make learning about mental health feel real, useful and actually engaging.
  • You're ready to share your lived experience in a way that inspires, connects and helps others (and even staff) see that recovery is real.

Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, it is a genuine occupational requirement of these positions to have a personal lived experience (public or private).

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $100,585 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $39.98 - $44.46 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
