Your Opportunity
As the Induction Officer you will be responsible for:
- conducting employer and apprentice/trainee inductions into various qualifications offered by TAFE Queensland SkillsTech on scope as a preferred supplier under the User Choice agreement;
- completing a range of legislative and business related tasks including negotiating training plans, providing tuition in apprentice/trainee training records and conducting Employer Resource Assessments; and
- developing and maintaining key client relationships and key links with industry to support the position of SkillsTech as the training provider of choice for trade and technical training in a competitive market and commercial operating environment.
This position reports to the Operational Supervisor, AMA.
This is a Temporary, Full-time opportunity, to 12 March 2027 unless otherwise determined.
The position will be based primarily at Acacia Ridge however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate and conduct primarily face-to-face inductions for apprentices/trainees, ensuring training, legislative and business requirements are met for each apprentice/trainee (including Training Record, Employer Resource Assessment and Training Plan) whilst ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) are maintained and adhered too.
- Effectively utilise a range of software applications, databases, information systems and student management systems to ensure that inductions are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Provide support and guidance to employers and apprentices/trainees on meeting their statutory obligations with respect to training legislation, regulations and guidelines.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, relevant legislation, regulations, policies and guidelines to ensure that TAFE Queensland is compliant with statutory obligations regarding Pre-qualified supplier (PQS) and Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).
- Liaise with representatives of TAFE Queensland, industry, employers and community and provide accurate and timely advice to clients and management in regard to TAFE Queensland programs and services.
- Contribute to continuous business improvement through supporting the development and implementation of internal quality system procedures, processes and documentation to build business efficiencies within the Induction Team.
- Contribute to the achievement of success within the broader Apprenticeship Management and Administration team through ensuring quality policies and procedures are followed and documentation relevant to the work unit is completed to the required standard.
- Proactively participate in local Performance Planning and Development (PPD) processes, seeking opportunities for self-development and contributing to the development of the team through knowledge sharing and the provision of support, guidance and collaboration.
- Contribute to the success of cultural change within the organisation through promoting and modelling TAFE Queensland’s core values of Working Together, Focusing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility, Showing Initiative, and Safety First.
How you will be assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
- Proven knowledge and understanding of the Australian Apprenticeship system and TAFE Queensland SkillsTech objectives regarding apprentices/trainees.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of relevant training legislation, regulations and guidelines and an ability to achieve business objectives and meet client expectations, whilst ensuring compliance with TAFE Queensland’s statutory obligations.
- Proven problem-solving skills, including the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively to meet key performance indicators (KPIs), and to remain flexible, agile and responsive to changing demands of the business and clients.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support the development of effective relationships with TAFE Queensland clients, in an environment where legislative timeframes and competing priorities are present.
- High level oral and written communication skills including the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to tailor communication styles to effectively connect with a variety of audiences.
Mandatory requirements:
- Current valid Open 'C' class driver's licence is essential
