The Role

An opportunity has become available for an Advanced Peer Worker (Identified Lived Experience - Early Psychosis) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia

You will

  • Aid young people experiencing mental health to participate in trauma informed and recovery-oriented care planning and support positive engagement with therapeutic interventions
  • Actively participate in both Operational supervision and Professional Lead supervision, performance appraisal and Lived Experience (Peer) Workforce Education, Training and Communities of Peer Practice opportunities for professional development
  • Provide high level expertise of comprehensive and flexible mental health service in a specialised area of clinical practice
  • Use lived experience of therapeutic skills such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Self-care strategies to support young people in their recovery journey

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Experience working as a Peer Worker in a public mental health or alcohol and other drug service or the non-government sector is essential.
  • It is highly desirable that applicants hold a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or can demonstrate that they are working towards the same.
  • It is a mandatory requirement of this position that the employee has a lived/living experience of mental illness, service use and recovery and is able to use this experience to support others living with mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Blue card / Working with children check (GCH will cover cost)
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Working with Children Check (GCH will cover cost)
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

  • Base salary ranging from $93 556 - $103 074 per annum
