About us:
Welcome to the Gladstone Emergency Department – open 24/7, always on, and ready for anything. We're the front door for emergency care in the region, providing rapid assessment, life-saving treatment, and stabilisation for patients before transfer or admission.
With around 35,000 presentations each year (and about a quarter of those paediatric), we're a busy, dynamic team that thrives on teamwork, quick thinking and making a real difference when it matters most.
Our reach stretches far and wide, supporting a community of more than 62,000 people from Mount Larcom to Miriam Vale and out to Calliope. And we're not stopping there, with a dedicated paediatric zone is on the way, making this an exciting time to be part of our journey.
About the role:
As a Clinical Nurse, you're more than a Registered Nurse, you're a clinical leader in action. You provide expert nursing care across a range of health service settings while also stepping into leadership, coordination and decision-making roles that help guide the wider team.
This is a role where you balance hands-on clinical work with responsibility for leadership, education and service coordination. You'll support complex patient care, contribute to improving services, and help mentor and guide Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and support staff as they grow in their practice.
You'll work closely within a supportive team environment while also being confident to practise independently, make sound clinical decisions and take the lead when required. Whether it's coordinating a shift, stepping in during the absence of senior nursing staff, or helping manage a busy ward, you'll be someone the team can rely on.
About you:
- You hold current nursing registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Confident leader who inspires others, supports your team, and brings integrity and professionalism to everything you do.
- Motivated by delivering high-quality care and take pride in achieving great outcomes for patients, the team and the wider organisation.
- Strong clinical problem-solver who can think on your feet and coordinate person-centred care in complex situations.
- Great communicator who can collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, navigate conversations with ease, and handle challenges like negotiation and conflict resolution calmly and professionally.
- Skilled in advanced nursing practice, including assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care in fast-paced, complex environments.
