About the role

The purpose of the role is to provide a high quality, accountable, therapy focused recreation service to inpatients in rehabilitation setting.  Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team, develop and implement recreational activities that will facilitate the patient's achievement of therapy goals and contribute to the patient's achievement of goals as developed by members of the multidisciplinary team.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Technical knowledge and skills in the area of recreational therapy. Understanding of the older person and people with complex needs, how impairments can affect functioning and the ability to adapt programs to these needs.
  • Strong and open communicator, who is willing to take directions, while demonstrating initiative coupled with a strong desire to learn.
  • Uses effective communication skills to understand patient's needs and deliver an organised service that meets their expectations under the guidance of the multidisciplinary team. Ability to adapt communication to suit the patient needs e.g. non- verbal.
  • Demonstrates ability to facilitate, promote and adapt to change.
  • Demonstrates respect for others, remaining flexible, fair and willing to compromise when dealing with team members, patients and members of the public.
