About us:
The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers a large geographic area with a diverse and growing population. The Health Service provides a wide range of primary care, acute and specialist services. Join the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service team of over 6000 staff to deliver health services in Far North Queensland. We offer a range of medical, nursing and midwifery, administrative and support roles at Cairns and more than 30 regional, rural and remote facilities. Deliver high standard psychology services within the Kidney Supportive Care Framework, and the outpatient High Risk foot clinic at the Diabetes Service, that are close to home and in partnership with patients, the multidisciplinary team and relevant stakeholders. The role may require outreach work.

About you:
In your new role you will……
- Provide high level psychology assessment, consultation, therapeutic intervention and discharge planning for renal patients, particularly where exacerbation of symptoms is associated with psychological distress and adjustment difficulties.
- Perform the majority of tasks and duties with a high degree of independence, including provision of independent clinical services of a complex and varied nature.
- Utilise high level communication skills to provide professional advice to medical and nursing staff, allied health professionals, non-professionals, community organisations and to patients and their carers regarding clinical and health psychology areas.
