About you:
We are looking for the best suited applicant for the role, and we will assess your eligibility and ability to undertake the role requirements. What you'll do:
In this role, the Senior Lawyer will:
- Work on allocated legal requests collaboratively with clients and collegiately with other lawyers (including briefing of external lawyers), within client agreed time frames, under the supervision of a Principal Lawyer or a Senior Principal Lawyer.
- Prioritise workload in accordance with client agreed timeframes and overall Legal Branch objectives, recognising that legal tasks may need to be completed urgently.
- Engage in thought leadership and training for other members of the Legal Branch, HHSs and clients, including to share expertise and to update developments in law.
While there will be an opportunity to focus on targeted areas of law, lawyers will be required to show initiative and be prepared to undertake a diverse range of legal work reflective of the dynamic and changing operational needs of the Legal Branch.
Mandatory requirements for the role:
- A Bachelor of Laws degree and admission, or eligibility for immediate admission, as a barrister, solicitior or legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
- Minimum 3 years post admission experience, preferably in the practice area specified in the attached Schedule, noting successful applicants will be required to assist the workload of other streams from time to time.
