The Role

We have an exciting role available as a Teacher, Individual Support, at TAFE Queensland’s Roma Campus.

As a TAFE Teacher you have the opportunity to influence the careers of future industry persons by sharing your extensive industry knowledge to students in a classroom or other educational setting.

This position is available on a permanent full-time basis and reports to the Educational Team Leader.

Salary

The salary range for a TAFE Teacher is $92,930 - $116,332 (gross) per annum, depending on educational qualifications held and teaching experience.

Mandatory Requirements

Applicants must possess CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support – Aging/ Disability or equivalent, and/or HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing with and the following:

  • current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;
  • current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided;
  • evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment;

  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card). For further information, please access: http://www.bluecard.qld.gov.au/;
  • Current Queensland Driver’s license.

Additionally, to become a TAFE Teacher, you must hold one of the following training and assessment credentials:

  • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor; or
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
  • TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
  • TAE50122 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training or its successor; or
  • TAE50111 or TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training; or
  • TAE50211 or TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development; or
  • A secondary teaching qualification and one (1) of the following credentials: 
    • TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set or its successor; or 
    • TAESS00011 or TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or its successor; or 
  • A higher-level qualification in adult or vocational education (approved by TAFE Queensland).

Note: Proof of qualifications and industry currency/experience to be provided at interview.

Please note applicants need not necessarily possess teaching experience, as the right candidate may be trained and developed through coaching, mentoring and partnering. Importance is placed on possession of the appropriate qualifications, industry experience and the right attitude.

Highly Desirable

 Candidates who possess the following will be highly regarded:

  • HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Support Services
  • High level of digital literacy skills across various platforms (online Learning Management Systems).
  • Industry currency - experience in relevant work sector (Disability/Aged Care – minimum 2 years)
