About us:
Emerald Hospital sits 300km inland from the Queensland coast, right at the heart of a vibrant regional community of around 28,000 people. It's backed by two nearby hospitals in Blackwater and Springsure, but Emerald is the main event; a 32-bed facility with operating theatres and a team of 160 legends delivering everything from acute to community and primary care.
With its Destination 2030 vision, Emerald Hospital is gearing up to become the Central Highlands' go-to hub for emergency, maternity, diagnostics, and selected surgeries. Add in a strong push for Telehealth, and it's all about bringing high-quality care closer to home – no long road trips required.
About the role:
In this role, you're the ultimate organiser, delivering top-tier admin support across the whole hospital and keeping things running like a well-oiled machine. You'll be the friendly voice and helpful face people turn to, answering questions, solving problems, and making sure staff, patients, and visitors feel supported every step of the way.
Travel coordination? That's your moment to shine! Organise patient and staff travel, process claims and juggle bookings and accommodation like a pro (even the tricky, last-minute or non-standard ones). You'll become a go-to expert in the Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme, helping people navigate it with confidence and care.
Handle important data and records, keeping everything accurate and up to date, while confidently making decisions within your scope and knowing when to escalate the big stuff. When things get complex, you'll investigate, connect with GPs, patients, and stakeholders, and help bring clarity to the situation.
Above all, you'll bring strong communication skills, professionalism, and a calm, compassionate approach especially when dealing with sensitive situations. Whether you're working independently or as part of the team, you'll keep things flowing smoothly and make a real difference every single day.
About you:
- You've got admin smarts and pick things up lightning fast! Especially when it comes to travel bookings, approvals, and finding the most cost-effective options.
- Systems and databases don't scare you. Bonus points if you can juggle accounts, compliance, and data entry like a pro.
- You're the calm in the chaos. You know how to support patients and their families with empathy, kindness, and real understanding when they need it most.
- Policies, procedures, rules? You either know them or you're ready to learn them quickly and use them with confidence.
- Your communication game is strong. You can write clearly, speak confidently, and connect with all kinds of people without breaking a sweat.
