About us:
The New Ending's Men's Program aim is to provide culturally safe care co-ordination to meet the unmet needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander males within CQHHS to empower them to take ownership of their future health, social and emotional needs.
The New Endings Men's program works with key stakeholders in the criminal system to better prisoner transition into society whilst providing advocacy, support and mentoring to offenders at risk of reoffending across Central Queensland.
About the role:
The role of the New Endings Men's Program Coordinator coordinating and leading the New Endings Men's program, and to support the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander males to utilise Health Services to identify and take ownership of their own health outcomes. The coordinator provides day to day program activity and professional and operational support to the Outreach Workers position.
- Provide guidance and council the New Endings Men's Outreach Workers to identify and communicate any barriers that impact on access to health services by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and work to implement solutions.
- Provide practical assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander males to access health services including Aboriginal Health checks, follow up care, specialist services and pharmacy.
- Manage the development and presentation of culturally appropriate health promotion material.
- Breakdown roadblocks through understanding contributing factors and developing concepts and ideas into solutions through detailed effective action plans.
About you:
- While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.
- Experience in the provision of a safe and quality focused environment by ensuring safe work practices and comprehensive knowledge of National ACC Standards.
- Competent provision of culturally appropriate care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
- Co-ordinate the day to day running of a team of workers that delivers health promotion to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Encourage, develop and support innovation across the health service to encourage improved patient outcomes.
What we offer:
Total monthly remuneration value of up to $12,731 p.m. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $63.04 - $67.53 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
