Cairns Hospital operates a Level 4 Paediatric Medical Service with a 16‑bed paediatric ward (flexing to 22 beds), an 8‑bed adolescent unit, and a Level 5 Special Care Nursery with 20 funded cots. The service manages the vast majority of paediatric care locally, with strong support from adult ICU and close links to the regional Paediatric ICU in Townsville.
About your new role:
In your new role you will……
- Deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based paediatric and neonatal care across inpatient, outpatient, community and outreach settings.
- Provide clinical leadership, teaching and educational supervision to junior medical staff, trainees and medical students.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement, audit, research and planning aligned with future paediatric service growth.
