The role of the Senior Strategic Support officer will lead the development and improvement of business processes and systems to improve the functions of System Procurement while providing high level support to the Chief Procurement Officer, System Procurement.

As a Senior Strategic Support Officer, you will will develop appropriate business processes and practices, provide efficiencies to current processes, and continuously review policies and procedures in compliance with government and departmental legislation and standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage staff by fostering and committing to service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
  • Contribute toward creating, maintaining, and improving an effective team environment and delivering quality timely outcomes in an environment with emergent needs.
  • Provide expert and authoritative advice regarding administrative systems and business processes, including information technology, establishment, payroll, recruitment and training and development.
  • Respond flexibly to support the broader needs of the Business Unit and contribute to an effective, efficient and coordinated approach to Strategic Procurement deliverables.

Role Fit

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Demonstrated ability in managing system procurement projects and whole of government procurement policy matters to support the identification of risks and resolve issues using innovative problem-solving approach.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and success, with demonstrated ability to work within and manage successful teams in line with the broader objectives of the Chief Procurement Officer, System Procurement, and the Department of Health's values.
  • Highly developed communication and engagement skills, including the ability to build internal and external relationships, provide advice, effectively influence, and collaborate with stakeholders in achieving business goals in a large complex business.
