AODS clients include people whose lives are adversely affected by alcohol and drug problems either directly or indirectly, mental health services, primary health care providers, community and non-government organisations and other supporting agencies, hospitals and hospital staff, and the wider community.

About the role

Provide psychology-specific clinical services to consumers with substance use issues who are accessing community based Alcohol and Other Drug Services (AODS). Clinical services include assessment, recommendations, case management, therapeutic interventions and promotion of recovery as part of a multidisciplinary team, with the aim of supporting consumers to manage their substance use issues more effectively. Deliver psychology-specific services as a member of a multidisciplinary team to achieve better health outcomes for consumers of the AODS.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to deliver psychological services in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards, including assessment, formulation, planning, implementation and evaluation of complex care needs of consumers with disorders and co-morbidities such as severe and enduring mental illness; alcohol and drug disorders; emotional and mental disorder of an acute nature requiring tertiary mental health intervention.
  • Ability to monitor and prioritise workload demands.
  • Willingness to improve clinical experience through engagement in continuing professional development and training and practice supervision.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • General registration or eligibility for general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia is mandatory (National Accreditation and Regulation Law 2009).
  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
