About the opportunity
- The role of the Patient Safety Officer is to provide expertise and leadership aimed at ensuring an organisation culture where minimising preventable patient harm is a strong core value.
- This position works collaboratively with statewide entities, senior executive members, managers, clinical leaders, multi-disciplinary team members, external stakeholders, clinicians, patients, and consumers demonstrating a commitment to improving patient outcomes and minimising preventable patient harm
- This position leads investigations into clinical incidents as defined by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC)
- This position provides multidisciplinary leadership, guidance, support, and clinical expertise in the oversight of patient safety and clinical incident management processes across the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS).
PLEASE NOTE - This is a temporary full-time position, commencing 01/06/2026 up to 30/05/2027.

- Salary range: $5364.30- $5824.20 p.f. (NG7)

Requirements:
- Mandatory: Bachelor of Nursing/Midwifery or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this
- Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
