The Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service (CLPS) aims to improve the integration of mental health services into the general hospital system. The CLPS will provide access to specialist mental health services to patients of a general hospital, equivalent to that provided to other Queenslanders experiencing a mental disorder.

The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse (Consultation Liaison Psychiatry)

to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Provide timely specialist mental health assessments to patients of the general hospital, with the aim of improving the recognition and appropriate management of mental health problems within the general hospital setting
  • Support hospitals to provide mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention
  • Demonstrating effectiveness in utilising assessment, intervention, treatment and evaluation methods, within the context of a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary environment

 About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
  • A graduate certificate or greater within a relevant specialty area is highly desirable
  • Driver Licence
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent full time
  • Base salary ranging from $113 979 - $122 048 per annum

The Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service (CLPS) aim to deliver clinical services within an integrated mental health service environment with a multidisciplinary team focus. Incorporating clinical assessments, management, advice, education, consultancy, and liaison, as part of a multidisciplinary CLPS to adult consumers within the Gold Coast Health Service District.  This role provides direct clinical leadership, support and education regarding the care and management of individuals with complex presentations involving physical and mental health co-morbidities.
