About your role:

  • The Nursing Director provides strategic advice and guidance to the Director IMECYS and the CHDONM to promote a high standard of professional practice and achieve patient focussed outcomes. In addition to this, the role provides professional guidance, mentorship, leadership and support to relevant nursing and midwifery professionals.
  • The Nursing Director is responsible for portfolios as allocated through the services. This position is accountable for leadership, innovation and excellence to inform current and future practice. In collaboration with the Clinical Directors the position will provide service direction, coordination, strategic planning, efficient and effective use of human and material resources and risk management.
  • Oversee, in conjunction with the Director IMECYS and EDONM, development of nursing budgets, allocation of nursing resources against service plans and management of nursing budgets in line with agreed service levels in accordance with Business Planning Framework.
  • Provide effective and efficient nursing and midwifery resource management in collaboration with the Divisional Director, Clinical Directors, Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Cairns Hospital Nurse/Midwifery Unit Managers and other senior nurses to meet operational requirements and facilitate the provision of quality nursing and midwifery care.
