About the Team

The Motility service is part of the broader Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Liver Transplant service (GHLT) service, that sits within the Division of Surgery & Perioperative Services. It is a comprehensive state-wide consultant-led service that works with a broader multidisciplinary team of allied health practitioners, nurses, and medical teams and provides care and support to children and young people experiencing a range of gastrointestinal motility issues. 

The collective GHLT service is made up of specialty services providing care and support to children and young people requiring investigation and management of gastrointestinal and/or liver disease.  Inclusive of Mucosal Immunology, Hepatology and Liver Transplant care, there are expert-led services supporting Neuro-gastroenterology and Motility, Nutritional and Intestinal Rehabilitation (inclusive of home Parental Nutrition) and General Gastroenterology.

About the Role                

You will provide clinical expertise, consultancy and advanced clinical care to paediatric patients with Gastrointestinal motility conditions and complex care needs. The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) leads the paediatric motility nursing service while providing direct and indirect care as required.  The CNC works in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager, Nurse Educator and wider health care team support the clinical unit in provision of safe quality healthcare through exemplary clinical nursing standards of practice for the speciality of Gastrointestinal Motility. 

This role will include care of patients undergoing motility procedures and investigations such as colonic manometry, antroduodenal manometry (ADM) and oesophageal manometry.  This role works within the multi-disciplinary healthcare team and is pivotal in the planning, managing and delivering of paediatric motility specialist nursing care. The CNC provides clinical leadership and advanced clinical practice while participating in education and research for the motility service. Fostering a culture of collaboration in within the team, we aim to optimise outcomes for children and young people with gastrointestinal motility conditions.
