Step into a major regional hub where scale meets opportunity! Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed referral centre delivering specialist care across Central Queensland, supported by a new state-of-the-art cancer care facility and advanced medical equipment.
As the key referral hospital, it works closely with Gladstone, Emerald, Yeppoon, Biloela and surrounding rural units, coordinating transfers for specialist care and investigations. Strong links with the University of Queensland's Rural Clinical School and Central Queensland University support medical, nursing and health student training, alongside a dedicated focus on growing the local workforce through an active Medical Education Unit and registrar programs.
About the role:
- Exercise judgment and discretion in undertaking various tasks, being responsible for the quality of work undertaken, prioritising workload effectively, and performing duties responsibly within the team or in the absence of supervision.
- Make use of available information systems, recognising decision making in clinical and management settings depends on accurate, timely, relevant, complete, concise and readily accessible information.
- Demonstrate high work ethics, and ethical decision making in the achievement of departmental / organisational goals.
- Comply with and adhere to relevant Queensland Government/Health, Hospital and Health Service and work area legislative requirements, policies and procedures and standards, providing feedback on recommendations for improvements to Line Manager.
- Perform a support role to medical and nursing staff within the departments by assisting with the preparation and completion of a range of documentation and administrative duties, including face to face and phone reception/customer service, filing, audit and transport of patient records as required.
About you:
As the successful applicant, you will be hands-on, adaptable and ready to thrive in a busy hospital environment! You'll confidently manage the physical aspects of the role - including lifting, filing, chart transport and moving across the facility - while working a flexible 7-day roster between 6:00am and 11:00pm (including public holidays).
You'll bring strong judgement and initiative to solve problems on the spot, along with solid computer skills across Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. A team player at heart, you'll support a multidisciplinary team with well-developed administrative skills, clear communication and a professional, sensitive approach when engaging with staff, patients and the public. What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $100,585 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $39.98 - $44.46 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
