The North Queensland Kidney Transplant Service offers patients from regional, rural, and remote areas of northern Queensland with kidney failure the best chance of a quality life, longer-term survival, and care closer to home. The Senior Social Worker is an integral part of the unit, providing clinical expertise, education, and consultancy to patients and staff in the field of kidney transplantation.

  • Base salary range: $128,169 to $137,918 p.a. (HP4)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading

About your opportunity

The Senior Social Worker will play a key role in the highly skilled North Queensland Kidney Transplant multidisciplinary team, making a tangible difference in the lives of North Queenslanders.

The purpose of this role is to deliver senior Social Work services within the North Queensland Kidney Transplant Service, including:

  • Delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based Social Work clinical services to patients and consumers as part of a highly functioning interprofessional team.

  • Contributing to the advancement of quality Social Work services and optimal patient care through service development, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical education.

  • Monitoring and reporting on work practices and outcomes, including initiating, planning, and evaluating relevant quality and research activities.

  • Providing supervision and training to less experienced (HP3) clinicians, students, and Allied Health Assistants.

This role can be supported to meet CPD requirements for formal accreditation with the Australian Association of Social Workers as an Accredited Social Worker or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. 

Requirements:

Possession of a tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Overseas‑qualified candidates must provide a ‘certification of eligibility' letter from the AASW confirming their eligibility for membership.
